The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,050 per bhori, bringing it to a new record high of Tk 217,382 per bhori, the highest ever in the nation’s history.
The association announced the updated rates in a press release on Sunday night, stating that the new prices will take effect from Monday.
BAJUS cited the rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market and overall market conditions as reasons for the increase.
The new rates for other gold types are as follows:
| Gold Type | New Price per Bhori (Tk) |
| 22-carat | 217,382 |
| 21-carat | 207,503 |
| 18-carat | 177,853 |
| Traditional gold | 148,075 |
In addition to the selling price, customers will be liable for a 5% government-imposed VAT and a minimum 6% BAJUS-determined making charge, which may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
BAJUS had last revised gold prices on October 14, when the 22-carat gold rate increased by Tk 2,613 to Tk 216,332 per bhori, which at that time also set a national record.
The continual rise in gold prices reflects persistent global market trends and local demand fluctuations, making gold investment increasingly significant for buyers and investors alike.
