Government Explains Cancellation of Music Education Teacher Recruitment in Primary Schools

The government has provided a new statement regarding the cancellation of newly created music and physical education teacher positions in government primary schools. This was posted on the Chief Advisor’s Facebook page on Tuesday (November 4) at 9:53 PM.

Various media reports about the cancellation of recruitment for physical education and music teachers in government primary schools have come to the attention of the interim government.

Initially, a decision was made to recruit the same number of physical education and music teachers in 2,500 clusters across the country. However, following the recommendation of the secretaries’ committee, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education stepped back from this decision.

The secretaries’ committee believes there were flaws in the project plan. Recruiting so few teachers will not bring effective benefits to primary education and may create inequality. There are 65,569 primary schools in the country, and implementing the proposed recruitment across all schools is not feasible. With cluster-based recruitment, the same teacher would have to manage responsibilities in more than 20 schools, making it impossible to manage working hours effectively.

The committee noted that in the future, subject to funding availability, the creation of such new teacher positions in all schools and their recruitment could be considered.
