The Cabinet Division has officially issued a gazette notification confirming the appointments of the Prime Minister and other members of the cabinet. The notification was released in the late hours of Tuesday, 17 February 2026, marking the formalisation of the current government’s ministerial lineup.
This latest reshuffle has positioned a total of 49 individuals within the cabinet, comprising 25 full ministers and 24 state ministers. The appointments were formalised during a swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday afternoon at the South Plaza of the National Parliament House. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman administered the oath alongside other cabinet members, signalling the commencement of their official duties.
According to the gazette, signed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh appointed the following individuals to their respective ministerial and state ministerial positions on 17 February 2026:
| No. | Name | Position |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tarique Rahman | Prime Minister |
| 2 | [Minister Name 1] | Minister |
| 3 | [Minister Name 2] | Minister |
| … | … | … |
| 25 | [Minister Name 25] | Minister |
| 26 | [State Minister Name 1] | State Minister |
| 27 | [State Minister Name 2] | State Minister |
| … | … | … |
| 49 | [State Minister Name 24] | State Minister |
The Cabinet Division emphasised that the appointments are part of a continued effort to strengthen governance and streamline policy implementation across key ministries. Full ministers are entrusted with leading their respective ministries, while state ministers are tasked with assisting in administrative, policy, and legislative matters.
The swearing-in ceremony reflected both ceremonial grandeur and procedural formality, with senior officials, parliamentary members, and government functionaries in attendance. This process also underscores the constitutional provision that the President, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, formally appoints ministers to ensure the effective functioning of the executive branch.
In total, this composition represents a careful balance of experienced political leaders and emerging policymakers, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and reinforcing public confidence in governance.
The gazette notification serves as the official legal record of these appointments, marking a definitive moment in Bangladesh’s political landscape for 2026.
