Grandfather Imprisoned for Allegedly Raping Six-Year-Old in Bogura

In Dupchanchia, Bogura, an 80-year-old man has been arrested over allegations of raping his six-year-old granddaughter. Following the incident, the police apprehended the suspect, and after presenting him in court, he was sent to prison.

The Officer-in-Charge of Dupchanchia Police Station, Farid Hossain, told the media that the child’s mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. According to the case statement, while the mother was in Dhaka, the child visited her grandfather’s home with her father. On Friday evening, they returned to their home in Bogura town, and at around 10 pm, the mother discovered her child’s blood-stained underwear through the housemaid.

The child was then taken to the One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC) at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for a medical examination. Doctors confirmed that there was injury to the genital area. A second examination confirmed the tearing of the genital passage. The child later disclosed the details of the incident to her mother.

Police sources stated that the investigation is ongoing. The arrest and court proceedings have caused concern among locals and highlighted the urgent need for increased awareness about child safety and sexual abuse prevention.
