Some creative partnerships transcend the passage of time, their melodies and artistry remaining untouched by years; they simply wait for the perfect moment to return. The story of Habib Wahid and S A Haque Alik is a testament to this timelessness. Their collaboration has left an indelible mark on Bangladesh’s music and film industry, creating songs and scores that continue to resonate with audiences across generations.
Although they have pursued individual paths for much of the past seventeen years, their joint musical journey spanned nearly a decade—from chart-topping audio albums to unforgettable film soundtracks. For the first time in over seventeen years, however, they are coming together once more, marking the end of an extended hiatus and delighting fans nationwide.
The announcement of their reunion has already sparked waves of nostalgia among their admirers. Social media platforms are abuzz with anticipation, as listeners eagerly await the distinctive harmonies and innovative compositions that first defined their era. Those who grew up with the duo’s signature sounds are brimming with excitement, anticipating a revival of the music that once defined a generation.
S A Haque Alik is not only a celebrated filmmaker and playwright but also a talented composer and lyricist. Habib Wahid, renowned for his inventive compositions and production skills, has long complemented Alik’s musical sensibilities with perfect synergy. Their collaboration began in 2007 with the track Bole To Diechhi Hrider Kotha, featured as a bonus on Shirin’s album Panjabiwala. Sung by Habib and Nancy, the song became immensely popular and earned acclaim even in Kolkata’s Tollywood. Later, it was included in Alik’s film Bindas, with actors Dev and Srabanti lip-syncing, further elevating its popularity.
In 2008, Habib’s album Bolchi Tomake included three additional compositions by Alik. Habib lent his voice to Bolo Keno Emon Hoy and Josna Kotha Bolo Na, while his father, Ferdous Wahid, performed Ki Name Dakbo Tomay Nil Josna. Their creative partnership extended into cinema, producing memorable tracks in films such as Akash Chhoa Bhalobasha, Aro Bhalobasbo Tomay, Ek Prithibi Prem, and Golui.
Reflecting on their long-standing collaboration, Alik commented, “Our work has always been heartfelt. Album releases often took time, and we got absorbed in other commitments. Working with Habib is always joyous, and this time is no exception.” Habib’s own busy schedule, particularly in solo production ventures, contributed to the lengthy hiatus.
Finally, after years of eager anticipation, their new song Preeti Shikhaili will soon premiere on Habib Wahid’s YouTube channel. Far from being a mere single, it heralds the beginning of eight fresh creations. Blending past successes, cherished memories, and renewed creative energy, the reunion of Habib and Alik confirms one enduring truth: true artists never fade—they simply await the right moment to shine again.
