The Palestinian militant organisation Hamas stated on Sunday that the Israeli hostages held in Gaza would not be granted any special privileges regarding the food they receive, insisting they are provided with the same provisions as the general Gazan population.
In an official statement, Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, said:
“(Hamas) does not intentionally starve the captives, but they eat the same food as our fighters and the general public. They will not receive any special privileges amid the crime of starvation and siege.”
The declaration emphasises that, despite ongoing humanitarian concerns and the severe blockade affecting Gaza, the hostages’ food rations are consistent with those available to others within the territory.
