Hospital Worker Assault: Manager Arrested

In Birampur, Dinajpur, police have arrested a hospital manager in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a female hospital employee. The arrest was made on Monday evening in Rajshahi city, with the assistance of RAB-5.

The suspect, Humayun Kabir, 43, a resident of Birampur Upazila, serves as the manager of the hospital where the incident allegedly took place. According to the police and the FIR, the victim, a 40-year-old woman, has been working at the same hospital as a housemaid. She divorced her husband approximately three years ago and subsequently began living as a tenant in Kabir’s residence. The complaint states that Kabir had repeatedly made inappropriate advances towards her over this period.

Details of the Incident:

The FIR alleges that on 5 January, at around midnight, Kabir returned to the victim’s home along with the hospital supervisor, Russel Mahmud, 29, and two unidentified individuals. According to the complaint, Kabir requested hot water in the victim’s room and subsequently assaulted her. He reportedly promised marriage and instructed her not to disclose the matter. The following evening, when supervisor Mahmud visited the victim’s residence, he allegedly threatened her with death if she revealed the incident.

Following these events, on 7 January, the victim filed a case under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act at Birampur Police Station, naming Kabir, Mahmud, and the two unidentified men as defendants. Since the filing of the case, the accused had been evading arrest.
