In a shocking development in Banshree, Dhaka, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has apprehended a hotel worker, Milon, in connection with the brutal murder of 17-year-old schoolgirl Fatema Akter Lili. The arrest was confirmed by RAB headquarters on Monday, 12 January.

According to RAB, Milon, considered the prime suspect in the high-profile case, was detained during a joint operation by RAB-3 and RAB-6 in the Bagerhat Sadar area. The operation followed intense investigation into the murder of the Redient School student, which had sent shockwaves across the local community.

Fatema was a tenth-grade student residing with her family at Pritom Villa, located on South Banshree Main Road (Block L) in Khilgaon Thana. Her elder sister, Shobha Akter, recounted the grim discovery: “I went to the gym around 1:30 pm on 10 January. Upon returning, I found my younger sister lying unconscious. Initially, I thought she had suffered a head injury, but after removing her hijab, I saw her throat had been tied with rope and cut with a sharp instrument.”

RAB has stated that during preliminary interrogation, Milon admitted involvement in the murder and has provided details about the method, location, and timing of the crime. Investigations are ongoing, with both local police and RAB closely coordinating to ensure a thorough probe.
