Housewife Found Dead in Chapainawabganj

Authorities in Chapainawabganj have recovered the body of a housewife, Motiaara Begum, also known as Shilpi (30), who was found hanging at her residence in Gomastapur Upazila on Tuesday morning. The discovery was made at approximately 8:30 a.m. in North Makarmpur, Madhopara, Ward 6 of Alinagar Union.

Motiaara was married to Helim Ali (31) of the same village and was the daughter of the late Wazed Ali from Gopalnagar village in Shyampur Union, Shibganj Upazila.

According to police and local sources, Motiaara had locked herself inside her mother-in-law’s room early in the morning. When family members became concerned, they sought the help of neighbours to break down the door, only to discover her hanging. Police were promptly alerted, and the body was recovered and sent to the district hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.

Gomastapur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Abdul Barik, confirmed the incident, stating, “Preliminary indications suggest that the deceased may have taken her own life due to family disputes. The exact cause of death will be determined once the post-mortem report is available.”

However, tensions surrounding the case have emerged, as Motiaara’s elder brother, Sirajul Islam, has accused the family of her husband of instigating her suicide. Police have confirmed that an investigation has commenced, and legal proceedings regarding the matter are currently underway.
