HSC Candidate Succumbs to Snakebite in Magura

A 19-year-old Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee tragically passed away following a snakebite on Sunday night in Srikantapur village, under Magura Sadar Upazila.

Incident Overview

  • Time of Bite: Approximately 8:00 PM, Sunday (27 July)
  • Initial Treatment: Administered by a local Ojha (traditional healer) in an attempt to extract the venom
  • Condition: Worsened rapidly following traditional intervention
  • Hospitalisation: Admitted to Magura 250-bed General Hospital at around 11:30 PM
  • Outcome: Declared deceased by the on-duty physician upon arrival

Official Confirmation

Md. Ayub Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Magura Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident to BSS, noting that the body was handed over to the family upon completion of all legal formalities.

The untimely death of the student has cast a shadow of grief over the local community, with residents mourning the loss of a young life full of promise.
