I Am Not Someone Who Gets Afraid: Paresh Rawal

Veteran Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal is set to appear in the upcoming biopic of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Recently, the actor spoke openly about the project and the challenges of filmmaking in today’s climate during an interview with Indian media.

Rawal reflected, “At this moment, I feel as though making any film has become extremely difficult.”

The actor emphasised how social media has become increasingly combative towards creators: “Social platforms nowadays seem to take an aggressive stance towards anyone. But if your intentions are not wrong, if you have no ethical lapses, and if a film is made with honesty, then it should not matter what people say.”

He further noted: “It is impossible for me to understand exactly what every individual wants. I can only create what appeals to me. That is how you set boundaries around your choices. Even the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has become more vigilant.”

Speaking about online trolling, Rawal made his position clear: “I am not someone who gets afraid. I also know how to respond to trolls in the right way.”

He added, “Today, people can write anything they want instantly on social media. Once, their words would not even be heard within their own households, yet now the whole world discusses them — naturally, this makes them feel important.”

Through his candid comments, Paresh Rawal highlighted the tense atmosphere surrounding creative work in the digital age — while affirming his own resilience against trolls and critics.
