Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon revealed that she was rejected despite auditioning for the Bangladesh-India joint production biopic of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Mujib: The Architect of a Nation. In an interview, she stated that it was not only the pain of losing the opportunity but also the humiliation she endured during the process.

When asked what she would have done if offered a role in the film, Badhon replied,

“I auditioned twice for the film. Being rejected made me cry a lot. I had a strong desire to work with a director like Shyam Benegal.”

She further added,

“The pain was not just about being rejected; I was insulted in an unpleasant way. Later, when the trailer and film were released, after hearing everyone’s opinions, I felt it was better that I didn’t do the role. I was actually happy they rejected me.”

The film, released during the previous government’s tenure, was directed by the renowned Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal. With a budget of nearly 70 crore Indian Rupees (approximately 83 crore Bangladeshi Taka), it is considered one of the most expensive productions in the history of Bangladeshi cinema.
