The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, has stated that organising the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election is a challenging task under any circumstances or considerations. However, he warned that if anyone attempts to obstruct the election, he will resign from his post and reveal everything about who did what.
He made these remarks on Saturday (23 August) during a discussion event marking Black Day at the University of Dhaka.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the entire nation is watching the DUCSU election with anticipation. Efforts are being made to organise the election in a fair and peaceful manner. All preparations are being carried out under the guidance of the commission, and discussions have been held with all relevant stakeholders.
He further added that as a national institution, the University of Dhaka has a tradition of standing up against injustice. In any situation, one must learn from history and raise their voice against wrongdoing. At this point, he called upon the armed forces and all other stakeholders to work together in unity.
