Import and export operations between Bangladesh and India through the Hili Land Port remain suspended today, Tuesday, 5 August, due to a scheduled public holiday. However, cross-border travel for passport holders via the immigration checkpoint will continue as usual.
The announcement was made on Monday afternoon (4 August) by Ferdous Rahman, President of the Bangla Hili C&F Agents Association, who confirmed that the suspension is a collective decision taken by traders in light of the official holiday.
Rahman stated:
“Since 5 August is a government holiday, all import-export trade activities through Hili will remain closed in accordance with the traders’ decision. Operations will resume on Wednesday morning as per the regular schedule.”
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge Ariful Islam of the Hili Immigration Checkpost reiterated that although trade will be paused, travellers carrying valid passports may continue to cross the border normally.
