Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested Imran Hossain (42) with gold valued at nearly Tk 7 million, hidden inside his trousers, during an operation in the Baulia Bazar area of Jashore Sadar. The gold was concealed in a specially crafted manner around his waist.
According to the 49 BGB Battalion, a patrol team conducted the raid at around 11:30 am on Monday following a tip-off. Imran was detained, and the gold bars were recovered from his waist. The seized gold weighed 384.38 grams, with an estimated market value of Tk 6,939,212.
Imran told BGB officials that he had collected the gold from Dhaka’s Malibagh area and was travelling through Jashore and Satkhira with plans to smuggle it into India.
BGB stated that after filing a case, he was handed over to Kotwali Police Station. The information was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqi, Commander of the Jashore Battalion.
Imran Hossain is the son of Ibrahim Hossain from Sarkarpara in Satkhira Sadar.
