The Kapoor family has always been in the limelight, with a legacy deeply rooted in the film industry. Today, their fourth generation is actively involved in acting. Among the prominent names in this generation are Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan and actor Ranbir Kapoor. Recently, a new documentary titled ‘Dining with the Kapoors’ has been released, focusing on the Kapoor family’s love for food and the cherished memories they share over meals. The documentary has generated significant buzz, drawing attention from fans and media alike.
In the first glimpse of the documentary, it’s revealed that Neetu Kapoor, who is Ranbir’s mother, often scolds Kareena Kapoor for her eating habits. In one particular scene, Kareena is seen enjoying some vapa machh (steamed fish) along with other dishes, when Neetu Kapoor spots her and says, “Why are you eating so much? You shouldn’t eat that much!” Despite the scolding, Kareena calmly responds, saying, “I’m pregnant, I can eat whatever I want!”
Kareena further explained that during her pregnancy, she had an insatiable craving for food and would often indulge in a variety of dishes. She humorously adds, “Pregnancy means I can eat whatever I like!” This playful exchange between Kareena and her aunt highlights the family’s deep connection to food, which is not new. Kareena herself has mentioned before that she loves eating parathas every few days.
The documentary features not only the current generation of Kapoors but also includes appearances from Rishi Kapoor’s wife Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir’s aunt Rima Kapoor, and Ritu Nanda. It beautifully portrays the Kapoor family’s longstanding love for food and their close-knit bond, which is a key part of their personal and professional lives.
The ‘Dining with the Kapoors’ documentary was created to commemorate the legacy of Raj Kapoor on his centenary and to celebrate the Kapoor family’s enduring cultural and culinary traditions. Through candid moments shared over meals, the documentary offers a rare insight into the everyday life and personal connections of one of Bollywood’s most iconic families. The family’s unpretentious and heartwarming moments have undoubtedly left audiences with a deeper appreciation for both their work and their lifestyle.
