The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian goods worth approximately Tk 1.5 crore from various border areas of Comilla and Brahmanbaria. The seizures were made on Thursday (October 31) night during separate operations conducted by BGB Battalion-25 and BGB Battalion-60.
Lieutenant Colonel Ziaur Rahman, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-60, said that the goods were seized during operations conducted on Thursday night in the border areas of Kasba in Brahmanbaria district and Burichang and Brahmanpara upazilas in Comilla district. The seized items are in the process of being handed over to customs authorities.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Jabbar Ahmed, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-25, said that from the Ibrahimpur area of Bijoynagar upazila, 2,137 pieces of Indian chocolate, 413 pieces of cosmetics, 20 silk sarees, 345 panjabis, 99 georgette three-piece sets, and 6,000 Gillette blades were seized. The confiscated smuggled goods are being processed for submission to the Akhaura Customs Office.
