Indian Medical Team Assists Dhaka Plane Crash Burn Victims

An Indian medical delegation comprising burn and plastic surgery specialists and experienced nurses has visited the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka to provide medical assistance to those injured in the Milestone School and College building plane crash.

The four-member team arrived at the institute at approximately 8:30 AM on Thursday, 24 July. It includes two expert surgeons from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, along with two seasoned nurses.

Officials and Ansar personnel stationed at the Burn Institute confirmed the team’s arrival. Coincidentally, a separate medical team from Singapore also visited the institute at the same time to assess the condition of the burn victims.

According to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the team will:

  • Evaluate the physical condition of the patients injured in the aircraft accident
  • Provide immediate medical assistance
  • Recommend advanced treatment in India if deemed necessary

The Indian specialists had arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday, 23 July, at 9:00 PM. The Indian Ministry further stated that, depending on the findings of this team, additional medical teams may be dispatched to Bangladesh.

Earlier, following the tragic incident, the Government of India promptly reached out to Bangladesh authorities, expressing a strong willingness to assist in treating the injured. A formal request was also made for a list of urgent medical support requirements.
