Italy international forward Giacomo Raspadori has made a swift move from Atlético Madrid to Serie A side Atalanta, just six months after joining the Spanish club. The Italian striker arrives as Atalanta’s seventh signing of the 2025–26 season, marking a fresh chapter in both his career and the club’s campaign.
In an official statement, Atalanta confirmed:
“Giacomo Raspadori is Atalanta’s seventh signing for the 2025–26 season. The Nerazzurri have finalised his permanent transfer from Atlético Madrid.”
While the transfer fee has not been officially disclosed, Italian media reports suggest it is around €22 million. This comes after Atlético Madrid reportedly paid between €22–26 million to acquire Raspadori last August. During his brief stint in Spain, Raspadori scored only two goals in 15 appearances, neither of which came in La Liga matches. He started just one league game, struggling to secure a regular place in Diego Simeone’s squad.
Raspadori began his professional career at Sassuolo’s academy before joining Napoli in 2022. Over three seasons with Napoli, he played 109 matches, scoring 18 goals, and contributed to two Serie A title victories. His performances also earned him a consistent place in the Italy national team, where he has amassed 11 goals in 45 appearances.
Interest in the striker reportedly extended to his former clubs, Sassuolo and Roma, both of which sought to bring him back to Italy. Raspadori joins Atalanta at a pivotal moment; the club has seen a resurgence under coach Raffaele Palladino, who took charge in November. Atalanta, once struggling near the relegation zone in 13th place, have now won three consecutive league matches, rising to seventh in Serie A. In the Champions League group stage, they sit fifth with 13 points, with two matches remaining.
| Season | Club | Appearances | Goals | Key Achievements |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022–2025 | Napoli | 109 | 18 | 2 Serie A titles |
| 2025–2026 | Atlético Madrid | 15 | 2 | Limited league impact |
| 2026–present | Atalanta | 0 | 0 | Newly signed, season underway |
Raspadori’s arrival is expected to bolster Atalanta’s attacking options, providing experience, versatility, and goal-scoring ability. With the club eyeing both domestic improvement and European progress, the Italian forward could prove pivotal in sustaining their recent momentum.
