JACSU'S Election Commission Announces Timing of Results

Following the completion of polling in the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JACSU) and hall union elections, the counting process is now underway. The results are expected to be published today, Friday, 12 September, at noon, according to Professor Rashidul Alam, Member Secretary of the Election Commission.

On Thursday night, 11 September, around 11:30 pm, Professor A.K.M. Rashidul Alam informed the media that the vote counting process would continue throughout the night. “It will take the entire night to finish counting. We hope to announce the final results by tomorrow noon,” he said.

According to the Election Commission, student participation was remarkably high, with around 68% of students casting their votes. Voting took place in a festive and enthusiastic atmosphere across the university.

  • Polling was conducted from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm across 21 residential halls.
  • Students who were present in queues at 5:00 pm were still allowed to cast their votes, ensuring inclusivity.

 

After voting concluded, ballot boxes from all halls were transported to the Senate Hall.

  • Formal counting began at 10:15 pm on Thursday night.
  • The process continued uninterrupted through the night, with officials working to ensure accuracy before releasing results.

 

Despite the generally enthusiastic turnout, the election process faced disputes. Chhatra Dal, along with at least four other panels, announced a boycott of the polls, alleging irregularities. They demanded that a fresh JACSU election be arranged to ensure fairness.
