Manikganj, Bangladesh – In a coordinated operation, joint forces recovered a cache of foreign-manufactured firearms, explosives, and other weapons from a remote area in Harirampur Upazila, Manikganj district.
The recovery took place late on Monday night near Lechhraganj Bazaar, according to officials. The discovery was announced at a press conference held on Tuesday at the Police Superintendent’s conference room.
Lieutenant Colonel Wasim Akram, commanding officer of the temporary Army camp in Manikganj, provided details of the operation. He was joined by Additional Police Superintendents Md. Abdullah Al Masum (Administration and Finance), Moharram Ali (Crime and Operations), and Abdullah Al Mamun (DSB).
The joint operation, conducted on the basis of intelligence inputs, involved both the Army and local police. The team focused its search near a bridge in Lechhraganj Bazaar, where the weapons were concealed. Among the items recovered were a Pakistan-made revolver, five improvised cocktail bombs, various sharp weapons, and an electrically connected explosive device.
Lieutenant Colonel Akram emphasised the ongoing role of joint forces in ensuring security ahead of national elections. He stated, “Our forces are committed to creating a safe, free, and fair environment for voters. Joint operations like this are crucial in preventing violence and maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.”
The recovered bomb was safely destroyed by the Army’s bomb disposal team, while the revolver, cocktail bombs, and other weapons were handed over to the local police for further investigation.
Harirampur police officer-in-charge Mohammad Afzal Hossain told The Daily Star, “We have received a revolver, a machete, and five rickshaw chains from the operation. A general diary (GD) has been filed, and the matter has been reported to the court.”
The details of the recovered items are summarised below:

|---|---|---|
| Revolver | 1 | Pakistan-made |
| Improvised cocktail bombs | 5 | Electrically connected |
| Machetes / sharp weapons | Several | Various types |
