Jubo League Leader Brutally Murdered in Bhola

A murder case has been filed following the brutal killing of Abdur Rahim, a Jubo League leader from Charfassion Upazila in Bhola District. His wife, Bibi Fatema, lodged the complaint on Monday at Shashibhushan Police Station, demanding swift justice for her husband.

The incident occurred on Saturday night around 10:00 pm at Kolerhat Road, located in Ward No. 5 of Rasulpur Union. Abdur Rahim, who served as the Ward No. 5 Jubo League convener, was attacked publicly with sharp weapons and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Local sources alleged that the perpetrators were followers of Nurul Islam (Nayon), the recently elected Member of Parliament for Bhola-4, which covers Charfassion and Monpura Upazilas. However, the Charfassion Upazila BNP has categorically denied any political involvement. In a statement signed by former office secretary Kamal Goldar, the party clarified that those responsible were drug traffickers, and the attack stemmed from a dispute over drug distribution, not politics. The statement read:

“The reports linking this murder to the recently elected MP or local BNP are entirely baseless. The perpetrators are not affiliated with BNP or Nurul Islam in any way. The attack was a result of drug-related conflicts. We demand that the culprits be brought to justice immediately.”

The Officer-in-Charge of Shashibhushan Police Station, Fakhrul Islam, confirmed that seven suspects have been named in the case by Bibi Fatema. “No arrests have been made yet, but our investigation is ongoing, and we are actively pursuing the suspects,” he said.

The following table summarises the key details of the incident:
