Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Joint Secretary-General of the BNP, expressed deep sorrow over the internal conflict among the ‘July Warriors’ in Shahbagh and issued a call for unity.

On Saturday (2 August), during a representative election meeting of the BNP in Lahar Kandi Union, Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila, Annie conveyed these sentiments.

Annie’s Remarks on the Conflict and Unity

Annie stated,
“We are all ‘July Warriors’ from the 24th movement. If a few claim to tarnish our name in the name of ‘July Warriors’, it hurts us deeply. The clash that occurred in Shahbagh pains us greatly. If we suffer because of them, naturally the fascists will seize the opportunity there.”

She further added,
“If political parties fail to unite, danger awaits us. Everyone will again face oppression and persecution. The oppression I or you face is not the same as that suffered by the common people. Why should the common people suffer because of me? Let us unite to strengthen the foundation of democracy and accelerate the election process.”
