Kamal Jaman Nuruddin Molla’s Nomination Suspended a Day After Approval

Kamal Jaman Nuruddin Molla’s candidacy for Madaripur-1, granted by BNP, was suspended just one day after approval. On Monday (November 3), following his nomination, supporters gathered at his home in Shibchar for a celebratory procession. Some brought flower bouquets while others distributed sweets. However, Kamal Jaman urged party members to remain disciplined and focus on fieldwork instead of celebrations.

The next day, Tuesday (November 4) evening, BNP centrally suspended his nomination. A notice signed by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi stated, “Due to unavoidable reasons, the nomination for Madaripur-1 (Shibchar) and the name of the party-nominated individual has been kept suspended.”

Earlier, on Monday afternoon, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the names of 237 candidates at the party headquarters, including Kamal Jaman Molla for Madaripur-1.

That night, supporters of the nomination-deprived 11th parliamentary election BNP candidate Sajjad Hossain Lavlu Siddiqui protested by blocking the Dhaka–Bhanga Expressway, burning branches, and marching. Traffic was disrupted on the highway for nearly two and a half hours.

Kamal Jaman Molla contested the 2008 national elections as an independent candidate. Currently, he is a member of the Shibchar Upazila BNP Convener Committee and has been active in local BNP politics since 2008.

Shibchar Upazila BNP Convener Committee Secretary Sohel Rana told the media, “We are aware of the suspension of Kamal Jaman Molla’s nomination. We will act according to the party’s decision. No further details can be shared at this moment.”

Kamal Jaman said, “We cannot celebrate with processions or sweets. We must directly reach voters’ doors. Victory celebrations will come after the election. Until then, we must work unitedly and move forward with all the people of Shibchar.”
