Key Dhaka Roads Temporarily Closed for Independence Day

In observance of the Great Independence and National Day 2026, several major thoroughfares in Dhaka will be temporarily closed to traffic. The measure, announced by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), is aimed at ensuring smooth management of the ceremonial events at the National Parade Square and the courtesy meeting with the President at Bangabhaban.

A DMP public notice, signed by Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar, emphasised that the closures are intended to facilitate both pedestrians and motorists during the day’s proceedings. Authorities have requested the public to plan alternative routes and cooperate with traffic management personnel to minimise congestion.

High-ranking dignitaries, including the President, the Prime Minister, cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats, senior officials, and leaders of various organisations, are expected to attend the official ceremonies.
