Veteran actress Kunika Sadanand has once again captured public attention by openly acknowledging her past romantic relationship with celebrated singer Kumar Sanu. The revelation came during her recent appearance on the reality show Bigg Boss 19, where she candidly spoke about her time spent with the renowned playback singer.

Kunika revealed that although she and Kumar Sanu once cohabited, they shared a relationship akin to that of a husband and wife, despite never officially marrying. “We lived together, yet it was much like a marital bond,” she explained. However, she clarified that this chapter of her life had long since concluded. At 62, Kunika now expresses a desire to embrace love and companionship once again.

Reflecting on her life, the actress noted that she has experienced two live-in relationships, four romantic affairs, and two marriages. Among these, her relationship with Kumar Sanu has remained the most talked-about and widely discussed by the media. Today, formally recognised as a senior citizen, Kunika insists that age has not diminished her appetite for love. “Even at 62, I am still a lover at heart,” she confessed. “If I find the right partner, I am ready to marry again.”

The actress also addressed societal perceptions around relationships, highlighting a gendered double standard. “In our society, men often enjoy the freedom of multiple relationships, but women are judged differently. Yet, we also have the right to live life on our own terms,” she said firmly.

When asked about her preferences in a partner, Kunika stated that she would marry only someone who complements her spirit and shares her outlook on life. She was quick to dispel rumours about romantic involvement with any actors from the film industry. “Actors are usually self-absorbed,” she remarked. “They are more in love with their own image than anyone else, constantly concerned with how they appear in the mirror rather than with loving another person.”
