The Labour Party has officially received its registration as a political party following a court order.
On Thursday, 25 September, the Election Commission (EC) issued the registration certificate to the party. The official electoral symbol of the Labour Party is the pineapple.
According to the certificate signed by EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, under the Representation of the People Order (RPO) and following the Supreme Court High Court Division’s verdict dated 29 May, the Election Commission has officially registered the Bangladesh Labour Party as a political party. The party’s head office is located at 85/1 Nayapaltan, Mosque Lane (3rd Floor), Dhaka-1000.
With the registration of the Labour Party, the total number of registered political parties in Bangladesh rises to 52, including the ruling Awami League.
