Lalmonirhat Train Crash: Signal Fault Causes Collision and Derailment

A signal malfunction led to a head-on collision between two trains in Lalmonirhat, resulting in the derailment and overturning of two carriages of the Lalmoni Express. The incident caused severe damage to the train’s engine and left several passengers injured.

The accident occurred around 2:00 PM on Monday, 28 July, near the BDR Gate on the northern side of Lalmonirhat Divisional Railway Station. A local train, arriving from the Burimari land port, was entering the station while the Dhaka-bound Lalmoni Express was moving towards the wash pit. Due to a signal error, the two trains collided head-on.

Emergency Response

Upon receiving news of the collision, fire service teams and army personnel quickly arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. The injured passengers were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
