Three businessmen have been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Bogura for illegally storing a large quantity of explosive materials. During the operation, more than 28 kilograms of locally made firecrackers, 550 grams of gunpowder, and cash were recovered from a grocery shop and a residence.
Those arrested in connection with the incident are Shahinur Islam Sajib (35) from Rahman Nagar in Bogura Sadar, Abdul Malek (45) from Bhartkandi Madhyapara, and Khairul Islam (40) from Chakla in Gabtoli upazila.
RAB-12 Bogura Company Commander Firoz Ahmed confirmed the matter on Monday (17 November).
He stated that based on secret information, the first raid was conducted on a grocery shop at the Malatinagar Bokshi Bazar junction on Sunday night. From there, 7,000 pieces of locally made firecrackers weighing 28 kilograms were recovered. Later that same night, another raid at a residence in Bhartkandi Madhyapara led to the recovery of 700 more firecrackers, 550 grams of gunpowder, and cash amounting to 30,360 taka.
According to RAB, these explosives were being stored illegally and dangerously, posing a threat to public safety.
Legal action is underway against the arrested individuals, and all three have been handed over to the Sadar Police Station.
