Lawyer Found Dead in Jhalokathi, Note Recovered

Police have recovered the body of Shamim Hossain Joy (36), a lawyer, in Jhalokathi, along with a handwritten note found at the scene.

The body was discovered on Saturday night (20 September) around 10:00 p.m. in the Chandkathi area of Jhalokathi town, confirmed OC Moniruzzaman of Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station.

 

According to OC Moniruzzaman: Police responded to a report of a death and recovered the body at the scene. A note was found alongside the body. Initial assessment suggests suicide, although a detailed investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances.

 

The handwritten note reads:“The illness that has taken root in my body makes my death inevitable. I can no longer endure the physical pain and mental stress. After careful consideration, I have chosen the path of suicide.
No one is responsible for my death. I have realised my mistakes and feel remorseful. Please do not misunderstand me, and forgive me if you can.”

 

Shamim Hossain Joy was the son of Mozammel Haque Molla from the South Dudharia area of Dapdapia Union in Nalchiti Upazila. He was a member of the Jhalokathi Lawyers’ Association. Due to his professional commitments, he resided in the Chandkathi area of Jhalokathi.
