Lawyer Found Dead in Manikganj Rental

Manikganj police have recovered the lifeless body of a local lawyer from a rented residence in Char Beutha, Sadar Upazila. The discovery was made late on Tuesday night, sending shockwaves through the local legal community and the surrounding neighbourhood.

The deceased has been identified as Shahidul Islam, aged 36. A native of Jamunabad in Shimulia Union, Shibaloy Upazila, he was the son of Belayet Hossain and a practising lawyer at the Manikganj District Judge Court. According to police sources, preliminary investigations suggest that familial disputes may have driven him to take his own life.

Neighbours and family members reportedly found Shahidul hanging in one of the rooms of his rented accommodation at around midnight. The residence was shared with his wife and their young child. Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene by approximately 1:00 a.m. and recovered the body, which was subsequently sent to Manikganj Medical College Hospital’s morgue for a post-mortem examination.

Inspector (Investigation) Aminul Islam of Manikganj Sadar Thana confirmed that, based on initial findings, Shahidul Islam’s death appears to be a result of suicide stemming from domestic conflict. An unnatural death case has been formally registered at the local police station, and further investigations are ongoing.
