Liverpool Agree Deal to Sign Frankfurt Striker Hugo Ekitike: Reports

Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s striker Hugo Ekitike in a deal valued at £69 million, with the potential for an additional £10 million in performance-based add-ons, bringing the total fee to £79 million.

The Premier League champions shifted their attention to Ekitike after Newcastle United refused to part with Swedish striker Alexander Isak, who is currently valued at £150 million by the Tyneside club.

Ekitike becomes Arne Slot’s latest signing and is expected to join Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia upon completion of the move.

The French forward enjoyed a standout season at Frankfurt, netting 22 goals in 48 matches across all competitions. However, he was notably left out of the squad during Frankfurt’s recent friendly against FSV Frankfurt, with manager Dino Toppmöller describing his expected departure as “a bitter loss”.

Competition for Signature

Both Newcastle United and Manchester United were reportedly monitoring Ekitike, but Liverpool appear to have won the race for one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.

Recent Squad Developments at Liverpool

The Reds have been active in the transfer market this summer:

Player Position From Fee
Florian Wirtz Attacking Midfield Bayer Leverkusen £116 million
Jeremie Frimpong Right Back Bayer Leverkusen Undisclosed
Milos Kerkez Left Back AFC Bournemouth Undisclosed
Giorgi Mamardashvili Goalkeeper Valencia Undisclosed

Attack Reshuffle Underway

Liverpool’s forward line is undergoing a significant reshuffle following the tragic death of Diogo Jota in a car accident in Spain.

Additionally, the club is said to be open to selling Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez, while Colombian winger Luis Díaz has been subject to a rejected bid from Bayern Munich.

As the Reds prepare for the new season under Arne Slot, the acquisition of Hugo Ekitike could provide both a sporting boost and long-term strategic depth in the forward position.
