Liverpool’s Anfield Woes Continue with 3–0 Defeat to Nottingham Forest

Liverpool’s disappointing run of form persisted as they fell 3–0 to Nottingham Forest at Anfield on the first matchday following the FIFA international break. While international breaks often provide struggling teams with a chance to regroup and recharge, Liverpool failed to take advantage of the pause.

This defeat comes just days after a 3–0 loss at Manchester City, showing that the Reds’ confidence and cohesion remain fragile. Nottingham Forest’s goals were expertly executed by Murilo (33’), Niccolò Savona (46’), and Gibbs-White (78’), taking advantage of defensive lapses and moments of poor organisation from Liverpool.

Despite registering 20 shots, Liverpool could not find the back of the net, while Forest converted just 13 attempts into a decisive three-goal margin. The statistics highlight Liverpool’s struggles in front of goal as well as defensive vulnerabilities.

The loss marks the sixth in seven Premier League matches for the current champions, who started the season with five successive wins but now sit 11th with 18 points from 12 games. Nottingham Forest, conversely, climbed to 16th place with 12 points after securing their third victory of the campaign.

The result raises pressing questions for Jurgen Klopp about squad depth, defensive resilience, and attacking efficiency. With Liverpool’s high standards and championship aspirations, consecutive heavy defeats—especially on home soil—underscore a troubling inconsistency that must be addressed quickly to avoid further slide down the table.
