A low-pressure system has formed in the southeastern Bay of Bengal and its adjacent areas. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), it may intensify into a depression and could potentially develop into a cyclone. This information was shared in a special bulletin issued on Friday.
Fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised not to venture into deep seas until further instructions. However, no warnings have been issued for the country’s inland river ports, and no signals are required.
Meteorologist Kazi Zebunnesa of the Meteorological Department said, “A low-pressure system has formed over the sea. It may intensify into a depression and later develop into a cyclone.”
She added, “Its path is towards Odisha and Andhra Pradesh in India. It will not significantly affect Bangladesh’s mainland. However, rain may occur in different parts of the country from the 29th of this month and could continue until the end of the month.”
The morning forecast from the Meteorological Department stated that in the next 24 hours, scattered rain or thunderstorms may occur in some areas of the Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. In other parts of the country, the weather will mostly remain dry with partly cloudy skies.
During this period, daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country may slightly decrease.
In the past 24 hours until 6:00 am, the highest temperature was recorded in Feni at 36.2°C, while the lowest temperature was in Tetulia, Panchagarh, at 20.1°C.
