Bruno Fernandes: “We Need to Rebuild the Culture of Winning”

Following the match, Bruno Fernandes, who both scored and assisted, expressed hope about Manchester United’s direction:

“It’s improving. I think the club is doing the best that they can. We needed more competition for the players that were here — more quality to push everyone. The manager and club are trying to address that, and hopefully we’ll add a couple more players.”

He acknowledged last season’s failures, where United finished 15th in the Premier League — their worst result since relegation in 1973–74 — and admitted that fans deserved better:

“The fans pay more for the tickets, and we really appreciate all their effort. It’s now on us, the players, to repay that commitment on the pitch.”

“Every detail matters. At this football club, you can’t get anything wrong — on or off the pitch. It’s a global brand, and the culture was always about winning. We have to bring that back.”

Diouf Shines as West Ham Defeats Bournemouth

Earlier on Sunday, West Ham United earned a 2–0 win over Bournemouth, concluding their tour with two wins from three matches in the Summer Series.

El Hadji Malick Diouf, the Senegalese left-back signed on 15 July, provided pinpoint assists for both goals, impressing teammates and fans alike.

“Both goals are down to him,” said Jarrod Bowen, who scored one of the goals.
“You can see the quality he has. He’s only been here a few weeks, but you’d think he’s been around for years. Humble guy, brilliant footballer. We’re very excited to see what he’ll do next.”

Despite a bright start from Bournemouth, who hit the woodwork twice in the first 15 minutes, the Cherries failed to capitalise on their chances.

“What I liked was the character of the group,” Bowen added.
“We didn’t have the start we wanted, but we stuck in there.”

The Premier League Summer Series concluded with promising signs for Manchester United and West Ham as both clubs shift their focus toward the upcoming Premier League season.
