Many Secretaries Still Conspiring to Disrupt Elections: Farooq

Jaynul Abedin Farooq, advisor to the BNP Chairperson and former Chief Whip of the opposition, has accused several secretaries and officials close to Sheikh Hasina of continuing to conspire to undermine the upcoming elections.

He made the statement on Friday (8 August) during a discussion session held at the National Press Club, organised by the Navin Dal to mark the anniversary of the people’s uprising. Farooq was the chief guest at the event.

Message to the Interim Government:

Addressing the interim government, Farooq said,
“You are the government of the people’s uprising. You are not the government of any individual; the people of this country have put you in power through their movement. You must reveal the names of those who are once again conspiring to sabotage the election during your tenure. The nation also deserves to know the reasons behind the various excuses being made to disrupt the election.”

Election Timeline Acknowledgement:

Farooq expressed gratitude towards the government for specifying the national election timeline, saying,
“Though belated, you have announced that the national election will be held before Ramadan. For this, we thank you.”

Warning Against Conspiracies:

He further added,
“The conspirators are plotting anew. They are trying to label us as ‘neo-fascists’. Be cautious. The BNP is the party of martyr Zia, the herald of independence, and a party of strong ideals. Therefore, these conspiracies will yield no benefit.”
