Desh General Insurance Company Limited has settled an insurance claim for Max Group following a fire at the Cargo Village of Shahjalal International Airport, highlighting the firm’s commitment to prompt and fair compensation.
According to an official press release, the payout covers two marine cargo claims submitted by Max Group after the incident. On Sunday, Desh General Insurance CEO Mohammad Khan formally handed over the claim cheque to Md. Mahmud Husein, Deputy General Manager (Corporate Finance) of Max Group.
The press release confirmed that the total compensation amounted to BDT 16,34,276, which was released after all required documentation and survey reports were duly verified.
“Placing the highest priority on customer interests, Desh General Insurance Company Limited consistently ensures timely settlement of insurance claims,” the statement read. “Over the past year alone, the company has disbursed nearly BDT 1.81 crore against various categories of insurance claims, reflecting our ongoing commitment to policyholders.”
The handover ceremony was attended by key executives, including Md. Ziaul Haque, Head of Claims and Reinsurance at Desh General Insurance, and senior officials from Max Group: Md. Shahidul Islam Khan, Khaled Bin Hossain (DGM, Technical), and Engineer Rahad Ahmed Ruman.
Mohammad Khan emphasised the company’s customer-centric approach, stating, “Our primary commitment is to ensure that claims are settled swiftly and justly. We are dedicated to maintaining the utmost transparency, professionalism, and integrity in order to strengthen public confidence in the insurance sector.”
He further expressed optimism about the company’s future role in advancing the insurance industry, noting that Desh General Insurance Limited aims to continue providing customer-friendly insurance services that contribute to sustainable development in the sector.
The incident at Cargo Village had caused significant operational and financial disruption for Max Group, making the swift settlement of claims particularly crucial. Desh General Insurance’s proactive approach not only mitigated the immediate financial impact but also reinforced trust between the insurer and its corporate clients.
