French superstar Kylian Mbappé has continued his sensational form at the start of the new season, scoring a hat-trick as Real Madrid thrashed Kairat Almaty 5-0 in the UEFA Champions League.

The match, part of the second matchday of the Champions League, saw Zinedine Zidane’s successor, Xabi Alonso, travel over 6,500 kilometres to face the Kazakh club. The contest was highly one-sided, with Real Madrid dominating in every aspect.

Liverpool had the first real chance in the 14th minute through Cody Gakpo, whose shot was cleared off the line. Two minutes later, Galatasaray’s forward Barış Alper Yılmaz was fouled in the box, leading to the penalty converted by Osimhen.

Despite bringing on Conor Bradley, Mohamed Salah, and Alexander Isak after the 60th minute, Liverpool could not overturn the deficit.
