Dhaka, 8 January 2026: Midland Bank PLC has formally entered into a strategic partnership with MetLife Bangladesh to provide comprehensive insurance coverage for its employees and their dependents. The initiative aims to enhance employee wellbeing, offering protection against accidents, disabilities, and loss of life, alongside medical benefits for families.

Under the agreement, approximately 600 permanent Midland Bank staff members will receive life, accident, and disability coverage. In addition, their dependents will benefit from in-patient, out-patient, and maternity insurance, ensuring broader healthcare security.

The agreement was signed by Md Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Midland Bank, and Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, on behalf of their respective organisations. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from both institutions, including:

Midland Bank selected MetLife as its insurance partner based on the insurer’s robust track record in claims settlement, customised solutions, advanced digital dashboards, cashless hospitalisation, ambulance services, and strong financial capacity.

Commenting on the occasion, Md Ahsan-uz Zaman said: “We firmly believe that providing insurance benefits will strengthen our employees’ sense of belonging and loyalty. This long-anticipated group insurance facility ensures affordable and quality treatment for our staff and their dependents, offering protection against unforeseen medical expenses and financial uncertainty.”

Ala Ahmad added: “At MetLife, we are dedicated to helping organisations create secure and supportive work environments. Our partnership with Midland Bank reflects our shared vision of prioritising employee wellbeing through comprehensive insurance solutions.”

Since its establishment in Bangladesh in 2013, Midland Bank has offered a wide range of banking services and investment opportunities. MetLife Bangladesh currently provides insurance protection to around one million individual customers and over 900 organisations, holding the national record for the highest total value of insurance claims settled.
