Miley Cyrus Honours ‘Hannah Montana’ Legacy

As Hannah Montana celebrates its 20th anniversary, Miley Cyrus returned to the series that launched her career in a heartfelt hour-long special, reflecting on her early days in Hollywood, her iconic costumes, and her journey from child star to global pop icon.

The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special sees Cyrus revisiting the original Disney Channel sets, joined by her parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, as she recounts memories of filming the show and the challenges of growing up in the spotlight. “That younger me worked so hard so I could have the life that I have now,” Cyrus said.

Fellow Disney alum Selena Gomez, who portrayed Hannah Montana’s on-screen rival Mikayla, also joined the celebration. The two reminisced about their characters’ infamous feuds. “When I watch it back, I’m like ‘we were vicious,’” Cyrus reflected. Gomez added, “It’s pretty mean!
