Miscreants Set Fire to Parked Bus in Jashore

Miscreants set fire to a passenger bus parked near the park area of Jashore suburb early Thursday (November 13). Although the interior of the bus was burnt, the engine remained intact. Residents of the nearby slum narrowly escaped a major accident.

Police later visited the scene after receiving the report.
Locals said that after the Fajr prayer, they suddenly noticed smoke inside the bus. When they approached, they found no one inside, but the fire was spreading rapidly. Nearby residents managed to bring the fire under control after about 20 minutes of effort.

The bus supervisor, Hannan Khan from Shreepur in Magura, said, “Our bus regularly operates on the Jashore–Magura route. As usual, it was parked in the suburb area on Wednesday night. I was inside the bus that night. After returning home at dawn, I was informed that miscreants had set the bus on fire. The seats and several parts of the bus were burnt, but the engine remained unharmed.”

Locals claimed that since a slum is situated beside the parked bus, the fire could have caused a major disaster if it had spread there. Their prompt action helped prevent a larger tragedy.

Jashore Kotwali Police Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Babul said, “Initially, it is suspected that the fire was set by breaking the window near the driver’s seat. The night guard, who usually stays at the spot, was away having tea at a nearby shop at the time. The incident is under investigation, and efforts are underway to identify the culprits.”
