Ziaur Rahman (45), a permanent tailoring business owner in Bhangura, Pabna, went missing after leaving a note. Later, his body was found on the railway track near Bridge No. 9 in Majhpara, neighboring Atgharia Upazila.
After being missing since Tuesday (18 November) noon, his body was recovered by police around 6 pm, showing signs of being hit by a train.
Ziaur Rahman was the son of the late Shahjahan Ali from Uttar Sarutia Wapda area, Ward No. 4 of Bhangura Municipality. He had long operated a tailoring business called Century Tailors in Bhangura market.
Family members and locals said he went to his shop as usual in the morning. Around noon, his younger son, Md. Ijaz Hossain, brought food but did not find his father there. Despite searching nearby, no information was found. Later, a folded note on the shop table caught their attention. It read, “I could not manage the shop and household, so I leave this world. No one is responsible.” His name and the date 19/11/2025 were written below.
After finding the note, family and relatives searched everywhere but found no trace of him. The incident cast anxiety, fear, and grief across the area.
A close business associate said Ziaur Rahman had been mentally weak for a long time. Tailoring work took him longer than usual. His younger son often scolded and physically punished him, which reportedly worsened his mental state.
About three hours after he went missing, around 5:15 pm, locals noticed a body on the Majhpara railway bridge, showing signs of being hit by a train, and shared a video on social media. Police and family later identified the body as Ziaur Rahman.
The Officer-in-Charge of Bhangura Police Station stated that Ziaur Rahman had been mentally ill for a long time and had previously attempted suicide. A general diary had been filed by the family after he went missing. During the ongoing investigation, his body was recovered from Atgharia.
The OC added that since the incident involved the railway, the custody of the body has been handed over to Sirajganj Railway Police. The Sirajganj Railway OC confirmed that after completing the necessary legal procedures, the body will be returned to the family.
