Molotov Cocktail Explosion at Rafia’s House, Police Case Filed

A Molotov cocktail explosion and attempted arson occurred at the residence of Umma Uswatun Rafia, an elected member (independent) of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), causing fear in the family.

The incident took place around 2:45 am on Wednesday (19 November) in Dholadia area, Ward 1, Mymensingh City Corporation.

Unknown attackers detonated a Molotov cocktail at the house gate and tried to set fire by spreading flammable substances such as kerosene and petrol.

Rafias brother, Khandakar Julkarnaine Rad, stated that Kotwali Model Police Station visited the scene immediately after receiving the report. He told Dhaka Post that a complaint has been filed at the police station and the perpetrators should be arrested immediately.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, Md. Shibirul Islam, said that the police inspected the site upon receiving the report. A case has been filed under the Explosives Act against unknown individuals, and the accused will be arrested soon.
