Motorcycle Owner Arrested in Shock Attack on Election Candidate!”

In a dramatic turn of events that has gripped the nation, law enforcement authorities have confirmed the identification of the motorcycle involved in the attempted assassination of Dhaka‑8 independent candidate and Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. Following this breakthrough, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) successfully apprehended the vehicle’s registered owner in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to official sources, the suspect — identified as Abdul Hannan — was taken into custody from the Mohammadpur area of the capital on 14 December, before being handed over to officers at Paltan Police Station. Authorities confirmed that the motorcycle Hannan owned was the same machine used during the brazen shooting attack on Friday, during which Hadi was critically injured.

Witnesses and investigators say the assassination attempt on Hadi took place in broad daylight on Box Culvert Road in Dhaka’s Paltan‑Bijoynagar area just after midday on 12 December. Hadi had been travelling in a rickshaw when assailants on a motorcycle pulled alongside and opened fire at close range, striking him in the head. The severity of his injuries prompted an immediate transfer from Dhaka Medical College Hospital to Evercare Hospital for intensive care.

The capture of the motorcycle’s owner marks the first major breakthrough in what had been a frantic multi‑agency investigation. While authorities have not yet accused Hannan of directly firing the shots, RAB and police sources stressed that his arrest is a critical step in unpacking the broader network behind the attack. For the moment, detectives are meticulously sifting through CCTV footage, witness testimony and forensic evidence to establish whether Hannan had prior knowledge of or involvement in the plot.

Security officials have declined to comment on whether charges have been filed against Hannan as of Sunday morning, noting that formal criminal proceedings often take time to prepare in high‑profile cases. Nonetheless, investigators insist that this arrest could soon lead to the identification and capture of more suspects.

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about political violence and election security. The attempted assassination occurred just one day after the Election Commission announced the schedule for the upcoming national polls, sparking debate about rising tensions in the run‑up to voting. Critics have called on both the government and election authorities to ensure that candidates can campaign without fear of violence or intimidation.

Local community leaders and political observers are watching this latest development closely. Many see the arrest of the motorcycle owner as a pivotal moment that could unlock further leads, potentially exposing a larger conspiracy. With pressure mounting from civil society and opposition groups alike, investigators face intense scrutiny as they work to bring all responsible parties to justice.

As the story continues to unfold, national and international audiences remain captivated by this gripping saga of political intrigue, violence, and — now — breakthrough arrests in one of Bangladesh’s most high‑profile crime investigations of the year.
