The Ministry of Education has decided to include up to seven teachers from private colleges offering honors and master’s programs under the MPO (Monthly Pay Order) system.
According to the new policy, colleges offering only honors programs will be eligible for five MPO positions, while those offering both honors and master’s programs can include up to seven teachers.
The decision was made on Tuesday at a meeting chaired by Rehana Parvin, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
A source present at the meeting stated that under the existing rule, one teacher from each college affiliated with the National University offering higher secondary and degree programs could receive MPO benefits. With the new decision, up to seven teachers from colleges offering both honors and master’s programs will now be eligible.
The official further added that colleges with only honors courses can include five teachers under the MPO scheme, while those also offering master’s courses will get two additional MPO slots.
