Muazzin Dies from Electrocution in Kurigram

A muazzin tragically died by electrocution this morning in Shimulbari village, located in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram district.

The deceased, Abdul Hamid, aged 68, was the muazzin of a local mosque and a long-time resident of the same village.

According to Shariful Islam Sohel, Chairman of the Shimulbari Union Parishad, the incident occurred around 9:00 AM when Hamid attempted to start an irrigation pump near his home. While doing so, he came into contact with a live electric wire and was electrocuted instantly, resulting in his death on the spot.

The incident was later confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam of Phulbari Police Station.
