In Saltha Upazila of Faridpur, a newlywed man mysteriously died on his wedding night. On Friday morning (October 24), police recovered his body from an empty plot of land in Pisonail village of Ballavdi Union.
The deceased, Jamal Fakir (28), was the son of Rajab Fakir of Pisonail village. He was the eldest among four brothers and two sisters in his family.
According to the family, Jamal Fakir got married on Thursday (October 23) in Ghonapara village of Purapara Union, neighboring Nagarkanda Upazila. That night, he returned to his own house with his newlywed bride. After dinner, they went to sleep around 11:30 PM. The next morning, villagers began shouting and making noise, which woke up Jamal’s wife.
Jamal’s wife stated that she tried to open the door after hearing the commotion, but it was locked from the outside. Later, when someone opened the door, she saw her husband lying in the yard outside the house. Locals said they found the body in an empty field about half a kilometer from the homestead. Police arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
The deceased’s elder brother, Jalal Fakir, said, “My brother’s death is mysterious. He had no enemies. We don’t understand why this happened.”
Officer-in-Charge of Saltha Police Station, Md. Ataur Rahman, stated that Jamal Fakir got married on Thursday and spent the night with his new bride. In the morning, his hanging body was found near a bamboo fence beside the house. It is suspected to be a suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and legal action is underway regarding the incident.
