Police recovered the bodies of a young man and woman from the Lamberi and Mitapanirchhara beach areas in Teknaf Sadar Union, Cox’s Bazar, on Wednesday morning at around 9:00 am. Local residents first spotted the bodies and alerted the authorities. Following the report, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Abdus Salam of Teknaf Police Station retrieved the bodies and transported them to the station.

Local fisherman Jalal Ahmed, who discovered the bodies, expressed his suspicion over the circumstances. "These bodies did not drift in naturally with the tide. It seems likely that they were disposed of here after being killed elsewhere," he said.

Teknaf Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Md. Saiful Islam, stated that as of 12:00 pm, the identities of the deceased remained unknown. Preparations were underway to send the bodies to the morgue of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Additional Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alok Biswas, the district police spokesperson, indicated that preliminary investigations suggest the young couple could be Rohingya. "This incident might be linked to human trafficking or a ransom-related killing. However, no visible injuries were observed on the bodies. The true cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem report is received," he noted.

Authorities have emphasised that no definitive conclusions can be drawn until the post-mortem is complete. Local administration and law enforcement agencies have intensified searches and investigations in the area to determine the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.
