The Asia Cup 2024 will begin tomorrow, 9 September, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This year’s edition will be staged in the T20 format and will continue until 28 September.
Former Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu has been given a new role for this tournament. He has been invited by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to serve on the Technical Committee of the Asia Cup.
Speaking to Dhaka Post, Nannu confirmed the invitation himself. However, due to visa complications, he has not yet been able to fly to the UAE. If his visa is cleared today, he is expected to depart immediately.
The Technical Committee for this year’s Asia Cup will include representatives from five different nations, bringing a wide spectrum of experience and perspectives into the tournament’s technical oversight.
Each participating nation will play three matches in the group stage. Bangladesh’s fixtures are as follows:
| Date | Opponent | Stage |
| 11 September | Hong Kong | Group Stage Match 1 |
| 13 September | Sri Lanka | Group Stage Match 2 |
| 16 September | Afghanistan | Group Stage Match 3 |
The Tigers will open their campaign against Hong Kong, before facing Sri Lanka and finally Afghanistan in their decisive group-stage encounters.
