Netanyahu Affirms Israel’s Regional Control

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued a stark warning regarding the Gaza Strip, pledging that Israel will take “all necessary measures” to maintain control over the region. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, 27 January, Netanyahu declared that Israel’s territory extends from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, and that governance and security throughout this area remain firmly under Israeli authority.

He stated that neither he nor his government would ever grant approval for such a development. During a televised press conference, he said, “I have heard claims suggesting that I would permit the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza—this has never happened and will never happen.”
